10:30 p.m. CST - How was your Sunday?

I had a great day. It was about 70 degrees, without a cloud in the sky.

And I cleaned out the garage.

No....I havent lost my mind, nor have I been drinking.

You have to remember what I do for a living, and what my schedule normally is like - especially in the upcoming three months (or more). Barring a rain out, I won't get another Sunday off until the end of the college baseball regular season. That's what made today pretty nice.

Look, I know there are MANY things you can come up with that would be more fun on a day like today than cleaning out a garage, and re-arranging clutter (which, let's face it, is what all of us really wind up doing when we "clean out"). However, the chance to do something that a "normal" guy does on a weekend is a rarity that I enjoy.

Speaking of sweeping...

While I  had a broom in my hand, Alabama's baseball team was a pitch away from taking one to the College of Charleston. However a two-out rally in the 9th allowed the Cougars to salvage the final game of the series - keeping the Crimson Tide from moving to 9-0 on the year. This is still a great start for Mitch Gaspard's squad, and I am really excited about what lies ahead for this team.

Tuesday's game in Montgomery between Alabama and Auburn at Riverwalk Stadium should be a lot of fun. It was a sellout last season, and is close to being the same this year. It's a non-conference match-up, but it's a great idea to play this game to generate interst within the state less than two weeks from the start of SEC play.

I'll have the call on the Crimson Tide Sports Network beginning at 7.

Did you really think I forgot?

While I may have enjoyed my Sunday off, it couldn't compare to the fun I had Saturday at work. Alabama's 73-61 victory was really enjoyable for a lot of reasons.

Obviously, any wins this season are to be appreciated - and especially so when they come against your biggest rival. But I thought it was an extremely classy move on the part of Anthony Grant to give Greg Cage his first career start on Senior Day, and it was great to see him respond so well.

I'll give the Coach an "A" in the fashion department, as well. I thought the Tide looked rather sporty in the new grey uniforms. The players had no clue the unis even existed, until they came back into the locker room following the Senior Day ceremonies and found them layed out in their lockers.

In search of....

If you were expecting to hear from Anthony Grant following the Tide's victory on the post-game radio show, or to see him on his weekly television program, he had a pretty good reason for his absence - one that I don't think any Bama fan would have much of a problem with:

He was almost immediately out the door to go recruiting.

After briefly meeting with the print and TV media, Coach Grant spent a couple of minutes with some recruits who were on unofficial visits to The Capstone, then bolted for the Tuscaloosa Airport to go watch recruits out of state. I'm told he had stops in two different parts of the country Saturday night and Sunday.

It says a lot to me that he would pass on a chance to talk about two wins, and instead immediately go in pursuit of players that can help this program claim many more in the years to come.
