7:05 p.m. CST - You Tube is a beautiful thing.... I rarely ever post these links to You Tube videos, but this one is simply too good not to pass along. Prepare to be knocked around by the celebration when Alabama scores in overtime to beat LSU. Thank heaven this guy wasn't on the very top row, or we would have lost him! Enjoy the video here. 9:00 a.m. CST - Good morning, and Roll Tide!!!!!!!! What a great day, following a tremendous weekend. There's nothing quite like winning to put a smile on people's faces. If you didn't read enough about the weekend's game, let me recommendthe blog that Gentry Estes wrote on Sunday in the Mobile Press-Register. He has links to numerous Sunday columns and game recaps from around the country. I also have a couple of Sunday columns, and a lot of Monday morning commentary available in the "Chris's Picks for Today" section on the Home Page of this website. You will also find a couple of columns in that section concerning Mal Moore's reaction to the Tide's SEC Western Division crown. I referenced Coach Moore and UA President Dr. Robert Witt during the "Crimson Tide Post Game Party" Saturday night. The reason Alabama is enjoying it's level of success right now can certainly be directly related to the work that Nick Saban and his staff have done, but the reason I believe this will be a long-term run is not tied solely to the Crimson Tide's head coach. In order to build a team, you need a coach who can get things done. In order to build a program, you need a coach, an athletic director, and a president who are all on the same page. Clearly, you need a football coach that can recruit, develop that talent, and manage all things related to his team. You need an athletic director that can put that type of coach in place, and provide him with the resources that are necessary to compete at the highest level. And you absolutely must have a president who not only understands the importance of athletics, but embraces it and uses it to enhance the entire university. Right now at Alabama....Bingo. The Trifecta. I truly believe that Alabama's Athletic Department, as a whole, is in its best position since the 1970s. Later today I will explain why. Roll Tide, and, in the words of a football coach who just suffered his third loss of the year..."Have a great day!"
